The driver of a green Honda struck a 10-year-old girl at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday as she was crossing Rocky Creek Boulevard to board a Lake Travis ISD school bus.

Molly Finley suffered scrapes and bruises when Rithy Khem, 38, of Round Rock reportedly failed to yield to the school bus’ flashing lights and stop sign, Travis County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Roger Wade said.

Austin-Travis County EMS transported her by ambulance to Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas where she was listed in good condition, hospital officials said.

Khem stopped at the scene and was cited for passing a stopped school bus and failure to display a driver’s license.

Rocky Creek is a subdivision off Hamilton Pool Road.

Marco Alvarado, LTISD director of communications, cautioned drivers to remain alert when in the vicinity of school children.

“We would like to remind parents to drive carefully in and around school bus stops and school zones especially during periods of inclement weather,” Alvarado said.
