Valentine’s Day is so often associated with romantic love that it is easy to forget that history records the day’s namesake as being more representative of sacrificial or charitable love.

The “Fashion Show of Love,” sponsored by Boat Candy and hosted by Rocco’s Italian Grill on Feb. 16, was a wonderful example of our Lake Travis community coming together with hearts united in the desire to love charitably.

On behalf of the membership of LTlov, the Lake Travis Labor of Love, I would like to extend our gratitude to Kenda and Kendra Beall of Boat Candy, whose vision and hard work culminated in an extraordinary night of fun, fashion and philanthropy.

Thank you also to the Piazza family and Rocco’s for adding fabulous food to that list. Guests were treated to a first-class runway production.

In addition to Boat Candy, thanks also to Suzie D’s, The PJ Shop, Cristiani’s Jewelers and Sakowitz Furs for treating guests to a very pretty peek at spring’s best fashions.

Thank you fabulous models, and especially the firefighters of Lake Travis Fire Rescue, for donating your time and beauty (inside and out) to the cause.

And finally, I especially want to recognize my dear friend and founding LTlov member, Melinda Bily, for her tireless work and heart’s desire to make this the best community possible for all those who call Lake Travis home.

The proceeds from this event will be used to establish a scholarship fund for the young women in the Teen Parenting and Pregnancy program at the Lake Travis High School.
