Six Lady Cavaliers are bound for the state track meet after the Lake Travis track team had two relay teams advance out of the regional meet in San Antonio Friday and Saturday.
The Lake Travis girls 4×400 relay team placed first overall and the 4×100 relay took second place as each grouping set a new school record time to advance to the state meet May 11-12 at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
The 4×400 relay team of Claire Howington, Cody McCrary, Delaney Maberry and Abigail Moss took first with a time of 3:57.46 to just edge Rouse with a time of 3:58.00 in second.
Maberry, Kia Neel, Abigail Moss and Hannah Moss placed second in the 4×100 relay with a time of 49.03 to edge third-place New Braunfels Canyon, which had a time of 49.62.
The girls team finished third out of 33 teams with 54 points and was on the verge of having several other athletes advance on but fell just short.
McCrary placed third in the 100 hurdles and was fourth in the 300 hurdles to narrowly miss out on a state spot. Hannah Moss was fourth in the 200 meters and fifth in the 100, while Abigail Moss took fifth in the 400 to lead the Lady Cavs. Marisa Ochoa set a new school record in the shot put with a throw of 38’1”.
The Lake Travis boys were led by the fourth-place finish from the mile relay team of Chase Rowland, Nico Vitela, Brock Kenyon and Aubrey Metcalfe, who finished with a time of 3.25. Zach Davies had a throw of 52’9.75” to take sixth in the shot put.
