The Lake Travis girls cross country team heads to the Region 2-5A Championships Saturday.

The regional meet is at Vandergriff Park in Arlington, and the Lady Cavaliers will have their work cut out for them against top state teams such as The Woodlands, College Park, Westlake and Kingwood.

A top-three spot is needed at the regional race to advance on to the UIL State Cross Country Championships, held Nov. 10 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

Individuals that finish in the top 10 that are not on a qualifying state team will also gain entry into the state meet.

The Woodlands was ranked No. 2 in the state in the last CCCAT poll, while Kingwood was No. 6 and College Park was No. 7.
