Chamber to honor top businesses, citizen
Thursday, January 17, 2013 |
Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce and Prosperity Bank are throwing a bash to honor the best business, citizen and other standout performers for 2012.
Renamed the Outstanding Achievement Awards Party, the chamber’s 21st annual awards gala is set for 6-9 p.m. Jan. 31 at The Oasis restaurant, 6535 Comanche Trail, in Austin.
The chamber will recognize categories of Business of the Year, Citizen of the Year, New Young Business of the Year, Unsung Hero, Rising Star for youth and Shining Star for nonprofit organizations and foundations.
“It gives me chills to see businesses be recognized because I know the extraordinary work they do in the community,” chamber president Laura Mitchell said. “I also enjoy watching nonprofits that work so hard for their causes be rewarded for their service, and it’s wonderful to honor individuals who are not always in the spotlight.”
Anyone from the south Lake Travis community may nominate individuals or businesses from the area. A nomination must include the nominee’s address and contact information as well as an explanation for why a nominee merits the award.
To nominate, visit laketravischamber.com and look for the featured event on the home page. Deadline for nominations is Jan. 22.
The evening also will include dinner, dancing and entertainment.
Jim Gentil will be master of ceremonies, and Beatles tribute band The Eggmen will keep the evening rocking.
“Our goal is for this to be a fun night for all while we recognize individuals and companies on this special occasion,” said Steve Zbranek, chamber board chairman.
Cocktail attire is optional. Seating is limited, and tickets are on sale now for $80 per person or $650 for a table of eight. For information, call the chamber at 263-5833.
