The Lake Travis track and field team had a strong showing at the Marble Falls Mustang Relays March 28 ahead of next week’s district championships.
The Lady Cavaliers claimed fourth place at the relays with 69 points, just 22 shy of first place, while the boys came in sixth place, just 17 points behind second-place Marble Falls.
Haley Houston set a new school record and tied the meet record with a first-place showing in the pole vault at 11 feet 6 inches.
Devyn Brown claimed first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.97 seconds.
Kenton Neel was first in the 200 with a 25.84 performance.
Tara Anderson earned second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.73, while Abigail Moss was fifth at 16.61.
The 4×100 relay team of Brown, Moss, Kendall Simons and Neel placed first with a time of 50.87. The 4×400 squad of Ashton Looney, Brown, Neel and Moss came in fifth in that race with 4:21.21 showing.
Elif Yurtsever placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 35-05.
Matias Zaragoza ran a 53.61 to place second in the 400 dash and he won the 800-meter run with a 2:03.84 showing.
Teammate Tyler Robertson came in fifth at 54.55 in the 400 while also placing second in triple jump at 41-09½
Hunter Streuling ran a 42.03 to come in fourth in the 300 hurdles.
Cameron Marsh took fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.73.
Mason Slade placed sixth in the 1600 with a time of 4:48.37, and he was also fifth in the 3200, coming across in 10:44.
Stefan Vidovic came in fifth with a 5-08 in the high jump, and Dominic Packer was fifth in the long jump at 20-10½
In the shot put, Connor Shannon threw 45-01½ to claim fourth, and Shannon was fifth in the discus with a toss of 130-02.
The 4×400 quartet of Brock Kenyon, Streuling, Robertson and Zaragoza won the 4×400-meter relay with a run of 3:31.60.
The district championships are scheduled for April 10-11 at Westlake High School.
