With more than a few fleet performances at the district meet April 11, the Lake Travis track and field team qualified 15 athletes in 16 different events to compete at the area meet today at the Burger Center.

Kia Neel led Lake Travis with an individual and relay first-place finish, taking the top spot in the 400-meter dash and anchoring the Lady Cavaliers’ 4×400 relay team.

The first-place 4×400 team is built of Katelyn Pervis, Devyn Brown, Abigail Moss and Neel.

All four members of the third-place 4×100 team –Brown, Moss, Elif Yurtsever and Neel – will also head to the area meet in other events.

Yutsever made the area meet by placing third in the triple jump and long jump, Brown, Moss and Neel are also members of the 4×100 relay team. Moss also placed second in the 400-meter dash.

Melodi Ramirez captured third in the discus and fourth in the shot put to advance on, Tara Anderson earned second in the 100 hurdles, and Haley Houston was second in the pole vault.

On the boys side, the 4×400 team of John Rich, Tyler Robertson, Brock Kenyon and Matias Zaragoza took second in the 4×400 relay. Meanwhile, Kenyon also captured fourth in the 300 hurdles and Rich was third in the 400 dash.

Connor Shannon and Will Argueta advanced by taking second and third, respectively, in the discus. Finally, Dominic Packer earned third in triple jump to move on.
